MCS = Mourvedre, Counoise and Syrah. The blend is even parts of each variety. Coming from Santa Barbara County, Tierra Alta Vineyard. This vineyard is perfect for Rhone varietals with its warm sun and balmy nights. We hand harvest the late-to-ripen Mourvedre and Counoise on the same day, and co-ferment the fruit in the same tank. The Mourvedre adds acidity and savoriness to the fruitiness and softness of the Counoise. The Syrah is harvested separately and blended in before bottling for mid palate yum.
Once you crack the cap, the aromas of spicy, bramble-y fruit, cherry and sage will fly out of the bottle. The fruit continues to go wild berry, black cherry, underbrush and spiced flavors. The finish is fresh and fun, but serious enough. You can drink this one now or age it for 5 years. Have it outside under a blanket watching the sun go down or on the couch binging on Netflix, if we get another late rain.
