2022 Heavy Pets Petite Sirah

Petite is not the word that we would have chosen to describe this grape variety.  There is nothing small about the richness of dark, dense Petite Sirah.  

Ours hails from head-trained, organic and dry farmed vines on a gravelly hillside in Santa Ynez.  Easy winemaking with completely destemmed fruit in a box for 2 weeks before pressing into neutral French oak barrels for 18 months of elevage. 

Heavy Pets is inky purpley-red in color.  It smells like blackberries, rocks and dust. The tannins are beast mode.  There is a reason this petite sirah is called Heavy Pets.  Drink this chewy wine with similarly chewy and full-of-flavor foods - steak for the carnivores or some kind of smokey eggplant situation for you vegos.  Chicken mole is the hands down pairing winner though.
