Latest Potek Release

Hello, friend. We are having an incredible winter here in Santa Barbara with more rain and cold weather than I can remember having.  I was just thinking to myself yesterday that since we’ve entered the year of the Earth Pig on the Chinese calendar, the abundance for our vineyards and ranches in the coming year begins with all of this wonderful water.  The reservoirs are filling up. The cover crops between the rows are as healthy as they’ve ever been. Some of our more western vineyards that deal with salt in the soils have had a tremendous leaching. All this water is a blessing for our region.  I can’t wait to see the wildflowers explode this year.

Anyway, let’s talk wine.  When considering which wines to choose for this release, all this cold weather has left me wanting red wines and nothing but.  We’ve chosen a group of wines that reflect our seasonal transition while satisfying that urge for comfort and warmth.

Starting with bubbles - our 2015 Blanc de Blanc, this is a vivid example of the purity of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir.  It may be our best version of this wine ever produced.

The 2015 Tierra Alta Grenache is a beautiful garnet colored wine perfumed with red fruit and spices.  We continued our tradition of long maceration and super traditional winemaking to make another interesting version of this wine.

Finally, our 2015 Mormann Syrah is powerful and rich with depth and warmth to get you over the hump of cold winter and right into spring.

I truly hope you’ll enjoy these releases as much as I do, and I’d love to hear your feedback on them... or see some photos of yourself and friends enjoying them.  It brings real joy to me to know that the wines are being shared with friends and family.

Thank you for supporting our wines, and I hope your spring is bright, fresh, and abundant!
