2009 PALE PINK ROSE
Pale Pink Rose is made from hand-picked Grenache, Cinsault, and Counoise grapes sourced from Rodney’s and Camp Four Vineyards in Santa Barbara County. 2009 was a great vintage, blessed by an even, long growing season that produced intense and vibrant flavors. The fruit for this wine was picked at lower sugar levels, then destemmed and crushed. The juice was soaked on the skins for about 4 hours – giving it the light salmon color. At just the right time, the juice was drained from the skins, and then fermented in french oak barrels. Every care was taken to maximize freshness and brightness.
We bottled 43 cases of this wine in Feb of 2010. Pale Pink is a salmon color and has a nose of spices (nutmeg, cardamom), sandalwood, and fruity strawberry and cherry notes. The mouth is delicate, crisp, and dry – plenty of strawberries, citrus, and melon with dried herb and mineral flavors for interest.
Pale Pink matches up with sunny afternoon sessions with good people. Drink this wine outside. It is surprisingly versatile and goes with anything from salads to quiche to grilled veg. Check it with chilled fruits, or even bbq salmon.
