CAB SAV IS RELEASED

August 23rd, 2010

Come taste our new Cab Sav in the Tasting Room!  It is made from fruit out of America’s newest AVA – Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara.  This wine was made by hand picking and hand sorting  the grapes which were fully de-stemmed and crushed into 1.5 ton boxes.  The wine spent about 30 days on skins being punched down 1-3 times per day.  After a long maceration, we basket-pressed the skins, then matured the wine in neutral and 2 year old French oak barrels.  It was racked once post malo, and not again until bottling.  We bottled 75 cases in July of 2010.

Delicious… An Edible Santa Barbara Writeup

April 25th, 2010

Edible Santa Barbara is a fantastically produced magazine that highlights local food producers.  In their own words…

Edible Santa Barbara is a quarterly publication celebrating the abundance of local food and wine throughout Santa Barbara County.

The latest in a growing community of over 40 Edible Community magazines, Edible Santa Barbara combines the synergy of a national publication with the locally written and relevant insider’s view of Santa Barbara’s producers, purveyors and consumers. The magazine tells the in-depth stories behind our local food and highlights the culinary traditions of Santa Barbara County.
  • Eating delicious, locally grown, seasonal food.
  • Getting to know the people who grow, produce, cook and sell those foods.
  • Learning more about what’s available in our region in terms of great dining, day trips, food events and festivals; great books to read and products to try.

There is a growing national movement that is encouraging people to eat more locally grown and locally produced foods. By eating locally, we help sustain the small family farms that grow these foods, we enjoy food that is fresher and healthier for us and we help reduce the cost to the environment of transporting foods over long distance.

There is a nice write-up on the Municipal Winemakers in their Spring issue.

Dave’s vision of being part of a locavorist ideal of “local butchers, local bakers…local winemakers” is coming to fruition with the opening of Municipal Wines’ tasting room at 28 Anacapa in re-purposed army barracks on the Urban Wine Trail.
